Chat Supports

Introducing our new Chat Support!

Starting on March 8th 2021 our online chat is available (hours are below!) by clicking the purple chat bubble at the bottom right side of this page, or by texting (289) 2077790.

This is a free, anonymous, and confidential chat for survivors of sexual violence age 16 and over, who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. We also support people who are supporting survivors: friends, family, professionals and other allies.

Through the online chat you can expect to connect with a trained volunteer who will listen to you. They can offer insight into questions about sexual violence, and help navigate what resources are available in your area.

How does it work?

To access the WebChat, you can click on the purple chat bubble on the bottom right-hand side of this page or if you want to get in touch using text (SMS) you can text (289) 2077790. You will need to accept our Terms of Use before starting a chat.

If you are using WebChat and 10 minutes pass without receiving a new message, the chat will close automatically for your privacy. You are welcome to open a new chat, but your past messages will have already disappeared. Your chat may get dropped’ suddenly if there are technical issues; if that happens you can open a new chat and the volunteer will respond as soon as they are able. If you navigate away from this page the chat will automatically disappear, but you can open up a new chat and get reconnected.

The services UPDATED hours are:

Mondays 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM

Thursdays 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Sunday 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Hours are subject to change and may be pared down to ensure the most regularly used hours are always covered. Updated hours will always be posted on this page.

Confidentiality

This service is confidential with a few exceptions. Our confidentiality policy in full here and if you have further questions you can ask a volunteer. While conversations are not recorded by SACHA, if you are using (SMS) text be sure to delete the messages from your phone after exiting and be aware that your cell phone provider may keep logs of all messages sent over its network.
